 Aerosol Art | 25/08/07

Spray CansArtists from Eye of the Fly and local artists will be working this weekend, Saturday 25 August 2007, at the 4shore Skatepark to freshen up the images which were started at the opening way back in April 2005.

A mobile skatepark will be on the tarmac next to 4shore to allow skaters and boarders the chance to skate whilst the artists are busy.

The ramps and walls lend themselves to the display of aerosol art but the Council does not condone graffiting of public and private buildings. This includes the perimeter walls, tarmac and street furniture around 4shore. Anyone caught graffiting is liable to be prosecuted.

If any artists wish to submit their designs for 4shore contact Gary Frazer gary.frazer@southtyneside.gov.uk. He will talk to you about spraying them on appropriate walls and ramps.

Come down and see the artists at work from 11-5 on Saturday 25 August 2007.

Watch this space for images of the weekend.

Temple Skate Park Open! | 12/06/05

Opening

Temple Skatepark Official Opening

The £125,000 NRF funded Temple Skatepark was officially opened by the incoming Mayor Councillor Bill Lynch on Saturday 21 st May 2005.  Local vocalist James Stephenson entertained the crowd of local boarders, BMX’ers and skaters who had eagerly awaited the opening.  The skatepark had a week earlier seen the dove grey concrete painted by graffiti artists with images inspired by visits to Bede's World and Japanese wood block prints transforming the once drab ramps and bowls into an exhibition of aerosol art.

Temple Skatepark was realised after three years of hard work by Councillors, Funding Partners and Officers of the Sports Development Department.  Located between the Centre and the all weather pitch the 30m x 30m concrete Skatepark is open for Skateboarders, Bikers and Bladers and like the Foreshore Skatepark it is free to all users.  The addition of the Skatepark will enhance the excellent existing facilities at Temple Park encouraging and increasing the participation in physical activity by locals and visitors to South Tyneside.
